Daily Om ~ Noticing Synchronicity

Things happen in our lives for a reason, even if that reason is not clear to you right away. When events appear to fit together perfectly in our lives it may seem at first that they are random occurrences, things that are the result of coincidence. These synchronous happenings, though, are much more than that, for, if we look at them more closely they can show us that the universe is listening to us and gently communicating with us. Learning to pay attention to and link the things that occur on a daily basis can be a way for us to become more attuned to the fact that most everything happens in our lives for a reason – even when that reason is not clear right away.

When we realize that things often go more smoothly than we can ever imagine, it allows us to take the time to reflect on the patterns in our lives. Even events that might not at first seem to be related to each other are indicators that the universe is working with, not against, us. This idea of synchronicity, then, means that we have to trust there is more to our lives than what we experience on a physical level. We need to be willing to look more closely at the bigger picture, accepting and having confidence in the fact that there is more to our experiences than immediately meets the eye. Being open to synchronicity also means that we have to understand that our lives are filled with both positive and negative events. Once we can recognize that one event is neither more desirable nor better than the other – they all have an overall purpose in our lives — then we are truly ready to listen to the messages the universe gives us.

While we may not be able to see everything in our lives as being synchronous, we can certainly use hindsight to be more aware of how the universe guides us. This sense of wonder at the mysteries of the universe and the interconnectedness present in our lives will help us see our overall ways of being and will in turn make it easier to work more consciously towards our spiritual evolution.

  1. Yes, it happens whenever I’m open to it. Just today I had to move some “pagan items” from the yard here because the property owners, being very zealous Christians, were going to be in town and would likely be offended; and I don’t want to upset my living situation right now. I was somewhat unhappy about it, so as I was “hiding” the items I thought about an piece I just wrote a couple of days ago about how the Wotanist priesthood in Charlemagne’s time had to develop a way to conceal their faith in a new exoteric system, which Guido von List referred to as, among other things, “the band of the Holy Veheme.” I was specifically thinking about that name and what they had to do as I “hid” my things, and was amused that I was practically doing the same thing in 2012. Then I accidently bumped a jewelry box, and as I opened it I saw a ring which had belonged to my late father who was not a pagan. It had the symbolism with the happy and sad faces, and on each side were little circles with pentacle stars. The “veheme star” was what von List called the pentacle star, and a ring is a type of finger “band”… therefore it was very literally a “band of the Holy Veheme.” Coincidence? I just don’t think so. It was like they were trying to console me… “it’ll be okay.” Also, the happy and sad face icon… the whole thing was drowning in symbolism. I just know that I’m not stretching to make connections… it’s so open and clear.

  2. When I am reading a book, and become tuned into the books meaning, I begin to have quite a few little daily synchronistic connections which tie directly to some aspect of it. Recently, I drove my mother to go shopping and I waited in the car, reading ‘Secret of the Runes’ by Guido von List. When she returned, I just happened to be reading about the primal word “ma,” meaning “to mother.” She then said abruptly “I got some Vienna sausages”; Vienna is the birthplace of von List.” Alone, that could be chalked up to common coincidence; but not when it happens a half dozen times day all relating somehow to the book. I may not be able to prove that, but if scientific theory were to be applied to it somehow. the odds would be against coincidence. I always get the impression that the Allfather–or the Allmother–is communicating with me in their own special way. Far from being disturbing; it feels like a caring spirit.
