Autumn Equinox Energy

Day and night are equal in length. Celebrate all aspects of balance and release all the old patterns of separation and duality that have brought centuries of conflict and competition into the world. Begin with yourself. Seek out and feed all that inspires integration, unity, trust and compassion. Find new ways to heal old wounds and to make peace. Ask yourself what you need to let go of, like leaves from your tree, to make compost, to feed these roots of change. Trust your feelings and instincts. These are valuable resources. Root your power in the simple pleasures of life: good friends, good food and a happy family. Communication is the key. Walk the land. Gather in nature’s abundance; the ripening fruits, the nuts, berries and mushrooms of the hedgerows, fields and woods.

Herbs and Plants of the Autumn Equinox
Apple, Balm of Gilead, Thistles and Vegetables

Apple – an apple cut in half widthways shows a 5 pointed star: the pagan symbol of protection (all five elements) and of life. Apple wands are often used to journey into the Otherworld.

Blessed Thistle – is used in protection rituals and is associated with the planet Mars and the God Pan.

Milk Thistle – use for releasing anger and depression.

Mabon Balance Prayer

Equal hours of light and darkness
we celebrate the balance of Mabon,
and ask the gods to bless us.
For all that is bad, there is good.
For that which is despair, there is hope.
For the moments of pain, there are moments of love.
For all that falls, there is the chance to rise again.
May we find balance in our lives
as we find it in our hearts.
